As a registered charity and public foundation, we are governed by a board of directors. Our directors are all respected members of the Southern Highlands community who generously donate their time to assist with the governance of the foundation.
In recognition of his pioneering work in social research, Hugh has been elected a Fellow of the Australian Psychological Society and awarded honorary doctorates by Charles Sturt, Macquarie, NSW, Western Sydney and Wollongong universities. He was appointed an Officer of the Order of Australia in 2015.
Shelley joined the board of The Southern Highlands Foundation in 2009, becoming the chair in 2010 and continues to date. Shelley is a Director of community foundations peak body, Australian Community Philanthropy. In 2019, Shelley received an OAM for her services to the community of the Southern Highlands.
An author of The Little Book of Big Decisions published by Wiley & Sons in May 2005, he was the editor of another Wiley publication The Little Book of Real Estate Definitions Asia Pacific, a tool widely used by real estate professionals across the region. He also authored The Art of… series (now in 10th reprint) covering hotel services and operations and co-authored International Hospitality Industry Organisational and Operational Issues. His latest book published by Mc Graw Hill is -Winning with Transglobal Leadership “How to find and develop Top Global Talent”.
He has served on listed and private company and advisory boards in the UK, Middle East, India and Australia. He is currently Chairman of the Advisory Committee of a Global Investment Fund
Peter is married to writer Kinchem Hegedus, has 2 children and lives on his Southern Highlands permaculture farm that provides a working and private refuge for artists, writers and trainers offering offsites in an environmentally friendly and stimulating location.
